They seem to forget that there is a serious difference between Christianity and Catholicism. I believe that when they attribute all these bad things to Christianity, they are really thinking about Catholicism.

Catholicism is a by-product of the Roman Empire. Now everyone knows that the Roman Empire was particularly brutal. The only reason why Rome accepted Christianity is because the rulers believed that their army was at a disadvantage due to polytheism. One soldier thought he was protected by Poseidon, while others felt closer to Zeus, etc. This created factions within their ranks so the Roman leadership adopted the once disputed theory of Christ.

SOOOOO, you've got the exact same Roman A-holes except now they have a cross. It was a military-based political decision, had nothing to do with their moral beliefs. This conversion spawned the Crusades, the Spanish Inquistion, and all the other "evil Christian" things.

I challenge you. When was the last time a Lutheran army attacked anybody? Or when were the Presbyterians waged a massive war? Also, does anyone blames the Spanish for the Inquisition? Or the English for the Crusades? No, they blame the Christians. My point is: do not be so ignorant as to blame CHRISTIANS for the sins of Catholics. And I know some people will say Catholics ARE Christians, but thats kinda like don't blame Mexicans for the sins of the Spanish.

Wow, you're totally right!
Wow, you're totally wrong.
Yes, Islam of the Middle Ages is still the same as Islam of today, deadly.

COMMENTS:
Christians should unite. Catholics, Methodists, Lutherans, Born Again, etc, etc. it does not matter. All are Christians under different labes.

Yea you seem to forget Protestant vs Catholic violence in Northern Ireland, the Protestant America stealing lands from the Indians, the fact that the KKK is all-protestant and anti-catholic, etc. The point is, nearly all major religions have people that kill/hurt/destroy in its name. While I do agree that Catholicism is responsible for most Christian violence....which makes perfect sense because for the past 2000 years Catholicism made up the majority of Christianity, so it's only natural most of the violence would go with it....I must strongly disagree with your judgement that protestant Christianity is some ultra-peaceful way of life religion.

Want to look at a peaceful religion? Look at Buddhism.

More people have killed in the name of Protestant Christianity alone than in the name of Buddhism.

Get your facts straight before making such ill-conceived polls.

The witch trials in Salem, MA were carried out by protestants. 20 "witches" were put to death in the name of Jesus, hallelujah! They read the same Bible you do.
