John Roberts, CBS' Washington reporter who anchored CBS Evening News during the weekends and was thought by many to be the heir apparent to Dan Rather/Bob Schieffer's seat, left CBS to become CNN's Washington reporter. Now, instead of having a fairly lucrative and noticeable position on network television, he seems to blend in with the myriad cable news reporters. Is this a step backwards in Roberts' career? Why do you think he did this?

Yes it is, but he was getting nowhere at CBS.
