It's still a fairly rare occurance, and they're greatly celebrated on both continents on an individual basis. The Latin countries are already well-represented in professional baseball (with the exception of Cuba), and the European countries and South Africa still play at a level that's so primitive that major-league talent has yet to flourish; but Asian countries like Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan have proven themselves to have major-league talent. Will the World Baseball Classic provide enough Asian exposure in the baseball world to lead to more opportunities for players to be signed and play major-league ball? Yes it will. No it won't.
