culture : ARE CAR SALESMEN FUN TO TALK TO? [+] ballot by xxxxxxxx ACTIVE Wed Mar 29, 06 - Mon Dec 22, 08 Today I went to a Ford dealership which was holding a liquidation sale -- I figured I'd check out the prices. I knew that I most likely wouldn't buy anything (indeed I didn't), but I had to see the deals. Anyway, a car salesman kept following me around, trying to coax me into a deal. I, however, used him as an opportunity to tell him whatever the hell was on my mind at the moment and tell him dull stories from my life which I find funny. The great thing is that, since he's a car salesman, he essentially had to not only listen to me but genuinely act interested (he either did a great job at it or actually WAS interested in what I had to say). In a way, he was like a counselor -- I could have told him anything and he'd have just walked next to me and agreed with whatever I had to say and/or reassured me. It was kind of fun in that respect. He didn't pressure me too much into buying a car -- I told him upfront that I was highly unlikely to buy anything, but he made some effort, which he's of course supposed to do. Anyway, are car salesmen fun to talk to? Especially when you just want to talk to someone and not have any of that pesky interference? Yes.
