I think it's not so bad.

The only thing that sucks for me is all of my coin collecting ballots... I think there was a half dozen or so, all with detailed responses I had made. :-(
Oh well, I'll just do them again some time when I'm bored. :-)

You have to take care of the basics, LCD. I'm quite angry about it to be honest. I put in a lot of research on some of my comments and now they are gone. This really is a basic function (backing up) needed to make this a professional site.
Now, I've pissed off LCD for good. oh well.
Should I back up my aura and karma reports?

I'm not angry at LCD. Accidents happen and all. I'm just a little depressed over it. There are some things that took hours (all together) if not days to research and put up. And then you have ballots that you bookmarked (for reference) and it's all gone. You can no longer bring up comments that other users made as reference because they're gone too. So we're back to December. I think I'll take a break from B+W for a while. This is just a huge kick to my morale. It'll take a little while to get over.
I can only imagine how the users who've been here for a few months feel.
It's a real mess. I've lost the will to respond to ballots. It's like the last few months never happened. Uggh...Lets hope LCD can find the rest of the comments.

I don't view it as a fresh start at all. Most of us, myself included, have already made impressions on here, and the disappearance of comments won't reverse that.
This is an unfortunate thing because like others have said we take time to think about and layout our arguements.Although I'm not blaming you LCD,technology often fails man.
This way, we'll ne'er know who loved and who hated. We'll have to do a lot of guesswork, and that could lead to some sticky moments.
Some of us remember EVERYTHING you said, Truthy! 
Oh well, them's the breaks.
Too bad Google won't have the same database failure.
I notice that comments before December 22, 2005 weren't lost.
I think that most of the people here are basically lemmings. That there are less than 20 active people, that they all agree, and that any divergent opinion gets you kicked off.
Further I think LCD is a homo.
