Or if I know a bunch of people in the northeastern part of the United States, does that mean I can judge all of the people in the midwest or northwest as well based on that information?

^Yeah, we'll see if they show up to join in the argument.

You think that's bad. There are people who judge nationalities based on what the media feeds them. Now that's bad.
by Liberal_Democrat on Mon Apr 17, 06 7:07pm [+]

According to several users on here having met a handful of people from a certain region makes you an expert on that entire region (they scoff at anyone who actually researches facts about that region/culture, instead prefering informal interviews of a handful of individuals in an unrepresentative sample), so I think they'd have to say yes.

Of course! Just like several users who know nothing about the USA are its harshest judges! Go for it!
by FiddleFaddleOnLSD on Mon Apr 17, 06 7:12pm [+]

I only know possibly 2 people who rag on the US, and I will always stand up for the American people.

Thats the difference between those who hate indiscriminantly and I.

I will defend individuals and the majority of the American people, this is a far cry from the politicians and those on this site who make sweeping condemnations of working people, Mexicans, Blacks, Hispanics, Arabs and those of religions they dont agree with.

Being anti-policy of an administration that has ripple effects around the globe and a people is completely different.

Perhaps some people can distinguish the difference.

Ha ... good point.

Unless, of course, we are talking about women, Muslims, homosexuals, or 'brown people' ... then any generalization or stereotype goes.
by Cathexis on Tue Apr 18, 06 5:53am [+]

No cath, as explained earlier those stereotypes are wrong.

It's white christians, republicans, and the rich that are fair to blame for a variety of crimes they inherited from their ancestors.
by herzog on Tue Apr 18, 06 12:31pm [+]

Of course you can. It would be a highly inaccurate judgement, but it's certainly your right to do so.
