COMMENTS:
Uggh. I put 'terrorism' up. In a sense it's overly simplified but at the same time its not simplified enough.
Terrorism is way overblown. There is very little terrorism. There is more chance of being killed by a CAT than by a terrorist. It's all propaganda.
A person has a greater chance of being killed by random crime than a terrorist.
Realistically, it depends on where you live. I hate to break it to anyone, but not everyone in the world lives in America where the fear is largely exaggerated. I've got relatives in the middle east who worry about it constantly, as do their friends, neighbors, and fellow countrymen. And have long before the most recent wars.
That's a good question. Oversimplification is perhaps the main reason why: a) People miscommunicate (and usually end up in groundless conflict;) and b) People tend to make stupid decisions. I think it's part of human nature, to a certain extent. This wouldn't really be so much of a problem if people in positions of influence and power didn't oversimplify things.
