The past 100 years has seen several mass genocides. From the Holocaust to Cambodia, Rwanda and now Sudan (and many more). One factor that all of these have in common is that relatively few people did anything to stop it even though they knew exactly what was happening.

In my opinion, anyone who knows what is happening and does nothing is complicit in the genocide. It is akin to sitting in a safe building watching someone murder person after person and not even bothering to call the police. Is that person not complicit in those murders? They could have done something, couldn't they?

Turning your eyes away from this genocide will not make it go away. Apathy kills.

I agree, we are complicit if we do nothing
No, I disagree and will explain below

I agree. Especially when it comes to Darfur. The Sudan genocide can be stopped with little effort but the world governments ignore it.

Lets see how many users attack the UN and go way off topic.

Yep, we should get involved. Just because we're already kicking they're butts, doesn't mean they should take it out on people less fortunate than they are.

Well let me chuck a spanner in the works regarding this thread. A bigger picture is at hand and that is stop supporting rebels fighting the Sudan government. Regime change anyone?

That's how I feel about it too, actually makes me sick the world community is doing nothing, where are the hypocrites who are all for human rights, boycott walmart, yeah I'll do that, but I would rather you focus your bleeding hearts on this situation. People bitch more about suv's than what is going on in the Sudan, selective humanitarians are the worst

Its very unfortunate that this is ignored.Even though its largely ignored, there are alot of great humane organizations dedicated specially to raise awareness about this genocide and help to stop it.Hopefully soon, someday great leaders can put an end to this.

Bringing to attention of people , you people all people, is important, because I see very little discussion of it

I wish I could do more than protest and use my vote.
by Truthseeker013 on Fri Apr 21, 06 1:38pm [+]

protesting works if enough people would do it, look at Napal, the protesting caused the King to finally give in.

What am I doing? Signing up people for the bus ride to DC for the rally on April 30, sending e-mails to GW Bush and my congresspeople, informing my friends and other stuff.

Countries will speak out about outrages like those detailed, but will only ever do something when it benefits their own pockets.
