Like what's going on? - it's 2006 and this antediluvian nonsense called blasphemy with it's inference of infernal punishment for the guilty is still considered a heinous crime in certain religious extremist quarters, and is frowned upon by mass goers who make up a large portion of the electorate in most countries.

So is it just a form of divine censorship and a compromise for free speech, yes or no?

It has always been the main tool of religion to silence by inference. It's ok to joke that bush is the antichrist. But true believers know otherwise. Anyone else is just a blasphemer. Freedom of speech doesn't come into it when your very thoughts are under dispute.

A lot of times its humans' that say this or that is Blasphemous. I don't think they even know if it is or not, they just say it when they hear something they don't like. I think saying something like GD is Blasphemy though.

Religion can not stand up to scrutiny nor intense contrustive criticism. Therefore the only defense is to call these things a crime against god and subdue the curious mind with fear of eternal damnation in the forever burning fires of hell.
