HOW LONG SHOULD A PERSON HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE TO VOTE?

[+] serious ballot by Cathexis
ACTIVE Fri Apr 28, 06 - Tue Oct 14, 08

In the last two US presidential elections, many urban polling places were so under- staffed and under- equipped that people had to wait in line for several hours (on a work day) if they wanted to cast their vote.

What do you believe should be the maximum amount of time a citizen should have to wait in line in order to cast a vote?

Half hour or less
One hour or less
Two hours or less
Four hours or less
Six hours or less
Eight hours or less
As long as it takes, with the equipment available
15 minutes maximum
Early voting is so quick

COMMENTS:
A couple of hours should be the max. Individuals should be willing to wait as long as they need to to vote, but they shouldn't be put in a situation where they have to. Kind of a catch 22

You'l lose voters if the wait is anymore than 30 mins. If the aim is to get as many voters as possible the waiting time has to be as little as possible.

I'm not really fit to render judgments regarding waiting, because I've got a sublime gift of patience. I've waited as long as nine hours to vote (though not in the last major elections- about three hours in '00 and five and a half in '04). I know that the system is and probably *always will be*, sorely understaffed and over-problematic. There's a *lot* that needs fixing in it.
