Now, I don't believe in the death penalty, but if we're going to have it, shouldn't we make some money off of it?

COMMENTS:
It's a recreational even in many nations. From Nigeria to Iran. And Iran gets more creative with its death. There you can watch a woman get stoned for adultry and you can watch a man get his dick cut off for rape.

People complain that execution isn't incentive enough to keep people from killing. Now if it were in public -- where people could see it and possibly satisfy their bloodlust -- it could be different.

Bring back the guillotine! Meet me at the New Place de Grève! Best seats at the front, 5 bucks! Warm up executions featuring the gallows! Yes, it is the original "necktie party"! Accept no substitutions! Our hangman has his drop weight charts memorized! No messy second attempts! A clean kill every time! Peanuts, popcorn, crackerjacks! Get your program! Can't tell the condemned apart or what they did without a program!

There is overwhelming evidence that state-sponsored killing does not deter anyone from killing.

Most likely, people who set out to kill someone do not think they will be caught, and another reason is perhaps that many murders are crimes of passion.

In any event, China does not inform our conscience, nor serve as an example of most ideals of a democracy.

One of the signs of a civilized Society lapsing into barbarism.

NO. Why not bring back gladiator executions. Or feed people to the lions. On the other hand, when people see an execution, especially a botched one, I think this will turn people against the death penalty.
