COMMENTS:
Personally, I do feel a somewhat underlying distrust of the US. No, it is not jealousy. The US is just so dominant and overbearing, I can't help feel a little bit suspicious and distrustful... Is that strange?
The fact that 'rogue states' are considered the biggest threat to the US, pretty much says that there is little to no threat to the US. They are dominant. Russia and China are also hyped up, both militaries are tiny compared to the US. Their nuclear arsenal are both out of date also, meaning that MAD is increasingly less and les important, as the US is increasingly capable of a first strike to prevent any nation striking back. Keep in mind that 1) I am not anti-American and 2) I generally support a partnership with the US on many issues.
I am not afraid. But I sometimes get apprehensive about the idea of such an all-powerful nation.
^I think many of us share your concerns.
Power politically, yes. Power economically, yes. Power culturally, not so sure. I don't fear the US nor do I feel in any way protected by the US. I view the US in much the same way as Homer Simpson views beer. "The cause of and solution to most of the worlds problems".

I'm a Yank and I fear the United States. Those morons who keep electing the same criminals to high offices are leading us all down a path of self-destruction.
Where are you from Socrates?
I fear their culture more than anything, its like a cancer spreading throughout the world.
Read some of Iain M Banks sci-fi books. I think the "Culture" are very symobolic of the way the USA is heading.
I've watched the USA become (somewhat?) totalitarian since the fall of the totalitarian Soviet USSR. Of course, not to such an awful degree, mind you, but USA is getting ahead of itself.

there's nothing to fear. political and social pundits have said that when ever a hard-line republican is in office, these same sentiments spread around the word. nixon, regan and both bush presidents as examples. but, when a democrat is in office, the world has warm and fuzzy feelings about the usa. they compared world opinion about the usa under carter and clinton with world opinion under regan, bush sr. and now w., and without fail, opinions worsened when a republican was in office. makes sense.
Yeah, thank Americans have had a political circus take place over the last 6 years. So much has happened. The polititions of America aren't a realistic reflection of the people. I don't fear them because they are the leaders of the western world and when the shit hits the fan they are on my side. If WW3 starts between EAST and West I think that having America on our side is a very good thing. Would you prefer speaking Arabic or things as they are?
I don't really see the Arab world as a great threat. I am more concerned by China. I would prefer the US over China. But still, despite all that, I still have a distrust of the US.
mindy- somewhere. ;)
If they choose to invade Canada the only thing that would really change is that there wouldnt be a year delay on HBO shows and it would suck even more if I got sick.

Only the people in control of America. I love America and its people. Also if ww3 ever started it would be caused by the people who have the real power.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! no
Sorry, i have no reason to fear the US though i am a bit suspicious of them.
I think Britain is secretly in charge of the US at the moment concidering we get you to do everything for us. The thing about Blair being Bush's pet hamster is false and it wouldn't surprise me that it is Blair that has Bush on the leash seeing that Bush has the IQ of a glass of water and Blair being a bit of a sneaky bugger.
I hear alot about Bush asking advice about politics from Blair aswell.
What kind of fear do you mean "Socrates"? I dont fear the US like its going to be a WWII Germany or anything, but I do fear it may do something very stupid one day wich will effect us all. agree?
Spartan makes me laugh!! Britain has america on a leash? Well that makes sense being as that Britain didnt want to go into Iraq but did because the U.S told them to. Name one thing that shows Britain has us on a leash? We have you and Russia on a leash. We tell russia dismantle more nukes they ask how many. We tell you were invading a country you ask when you should get there. I love Britain and Russia but i hate the people in it who pick out Americans as bad people. Theres nothing to fear about u.s we mean no harm to anyone we only want to spread democracy only making the world more peaceful. I hate people who always look for something bad to say about the u.s when in reality americans just want peace with the world. I think Britain is a smart country but to say you have us on a leash is something anyone else in the world would laugh about. I love how you want to make yourself feel better so you say its all a lie and really bush is on blairs leash. HAHAHAHAHAAHA I just saw a news report recently were Bush is sitting and Blairs asking him a question one on one and Bush says he could give a shit less.
Spartan I've never heard of Bush being Blair's poodle, but I've heard it the other way around.
We went to war with you because you ASKED us to not told us because you know as well as i do that we can't rely on other nations, especially Europian nations to help you. No one in Britain would take orders from any other nation, we went to fight in the war with you by our own free will because you needed us. They are only rumours of course just like Blair being Bush's pet, to be frank saying Blair is on bush's leash is laughable and just plain ridiculous. What you must bare in mind is that Blair is a true politician who is very reserved whilst Bush is the complete opposite, a cowboy who says what he thinks. You really shouldn't believe what they say in the news papers. So there you go US_Marinecorps69, must you lie to yourself to make yourself feel better because your comment is full of lies. Britain on a US leash HAHAHAHAHAHA!! Over our cold, dead bodies, mate.
the Blair on Bush leash thing is all lies made up by thoughs few who don't support him, i honestly can't imagine Blair taking shit from Bush 'cos i know that a real Brit wouldn't, bet Blair gives it back and he does stick to his guns.
Americans should fear deeply the PNAC gangsters who have taken over their country in the Whitehouse, they are leading you and the rest of the world straight to Armageddon unless they are prevented from fulfilling they're mad PNAC agenda. A dream for them - a nightnare for the rest of the world.
