Terrorists are just a bunch of religious fanatic dunces who couldn't accomplish anything without getting a push from the U.S. government.

Who do you think gave them arms?
by _Beelzebubba on Fri May 12, 06 9:01am [+]

come on! thousands dead already by a terrorist attack. grow up. so a dirty bomb going off in a major city, rendering that city uninhabitable and killing hundreds of thousands, if not more, is less scary than the government collecting phone records? messed up priorities man.

by Cathexis on May 12, 2006 8:49am

thats naive. very. in fact, they could in many ways. you tell me that dirty bombs going off in chicago, ny, la and dc would not literally destroy this nation? it would. in fact it would destroy the world economy and it would kill at least a million people, depending on the strenth and experts have already said it would make most of the cities uninhabitable. geesh.
by Kev24 on Fri May 12, 06 9:12am [+]

Kev: I disagree. We are complacent, now, but the actions going on are the first steps that a government takes transitioning from Democracy to proto- fascist. And that affects not just a few thousand but the entire citizenry.

The chances that a terroist attack will affcet me are minute ... and would be even more remote if my Government weren't taking steps to swell the terrorist ranks.

The probabilities that a loss of Democracy will affect me ...? 100%
by Cathexis on Fri May 12, 06 9:13am [+]

Naive? Not at all.

Terrorist will never destroy the US. That is fear-mongering. They are too diffuse, too few ... too few resources. Sure, there are episodic threats, but they will never destroy America.

If, however, one takes away the rights, principles, and form of government that makes the country great allowing concentration of power in one man or one political Party ...

... tell me ... is that still America in anything but name?
by Cathexis on Fri May 12, 06 9:15am [+]

We are being presented with a false dichotomy: be subject to terrorists or give Bush dicatorial powers (and Kev, that is exactly what is at stake, when he doesn't have to obey laws due to being a war president in a never-ending conflict).

These are NOT the choices:

1. Giving up all we hold dear will NOT protect us from terrorists! Ironically, it makes us LESS secure!

2. That is NOT the only choice. Hell, it isn't even a valid choice!
by Cathexis on Fri May 12, 06 9:17am [+]

^ okay, okay. calm down cathy. you make some good points. how about this -- i fear the terrorists as much as i fear the bush administration. i fear that the terrorists are determined to do something big, but i equally fear bush for the damage he has already done here and abroad, and fear the potential he has to do even more harm.
by Kev24 on Fri May 12, 06 9:17am [+]

The US government. Terrorists don't have the power to take away your constitutional rights do they?
by Liberal_Democrat on Fri May 12, 06 10:06am [+]

Whenever I go to the Galleria Malls or even a simple Radio Shack, I am aware of how easy it would be for a terrorist to attack. Fifteen years ago, a friend working in a hair salon was robbed, assaulted and beaten, along with two other employees when a "terrorist/hoodlum" (couple) came into the store. I fear terrorists. It will happen again on our land. Wish me wrong.
by xxxxxxxx on Fri May 12, 06 10:48am [+]

The government wants total control over our lives. The terrorists want to kill the government.

So, you tell me which group makes the most sense. @:>)

If it weren't for the friends I have over in Iraq, I'd seriously doubt that terrorists even existed. But the Guv'mint, I've always been afraid of.

We can vote a government in and out. Can you do the same to a terrorist?
by ExplorerTwo on Fri May 12, 06 3:28pm [+]

cathexis, with all due respect, you are engaging in a great deal of hyperbole:
"There is no way Terrorists will destroy America.

It is conceivable that Bush and the current crop of madmen might."

"We are being presented with a false dichotomy: be subject to terrorists or give Bush dicatorial powers"

"We are complacent, now, but the actions going on are the first steps that a government takes transitioning from Democracy to proto- fascist."

I beg to differ especially on the first point for basically the same reasons that kev24 stated. I want to know exactly how fascism is in the works. This charge lobbed against a government that can't tie its own shoe without help. Your rhetoric is what I would expect from someone like cranky, not from you. Making these types of charges and accusations can cause others to perceive the person making them as a bit on the crazy side. I can only imagine how a Democratic candidate for Senate or House making these charges would be received. "Lunatic" "crazy" are a few words that come to mind.

I may strongly disagree with the actions that the Bush administration has taken, but I'm not going to descend into hyperbole to make my point.

Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear.

When Americans come to the realization that freedom is no more in America, they will also mourn that it was the government that was responsible.

Islam_hater come on wire taping has nothing to do with stopping terrorism, governments have been doing that way before 911. The middle east will look like paradise when the police state comes and worshiping Bush and thinking he’s trying to “protect” you from those men in caves is a disease.
by seon on Fri May 12, 06 8:03pm [+]

Islam_hater what about the wire tapping? Or the loss of 2nd amendment rights (like during hurricane Katrina) or the patriot act? According to that you’re a terrorist if you commit an act that endangers someone’s life. What about the loss of 4th amendment rights or even 1st amendment ones? Like people getting arrested just for wearing a t shirt promoting world piece? Did you know that there’s concentration camps being built in America for the next 911?
Yes people aren’t getting there heads chopped of but bush is using the alquada threat as an excuse to take away peoples rights. In 3 years Bush wont be in “power” but someone just as bad will be.
by seon on Fri May 12, 06 8:55pm [+]

I also thought I’d point out that if the evil arabs (that was sarcasm) attacked us then the people who have the real power would let them because they have an agenda they cant carry out unless there’s another “terrorist” attack. Plus the arabs doing all the beheadings don’t affect our security unless were over there.

Some of the goons on this website just don't get it do they?

These repressive measures are just the thin edge of the wedge, and as long as there are complacent 'roll over and die' half-wits like the total loser and arch racist '***** and wisdom hater', well then there is always going to be a danger that things can only get worse.

Go to army. mil/ usapa/ epubs/ pdf/ r210_35. pdf and read about the army’s civilian inmate labor program yourself. Look up operation urban warrior which is war games where foreign troops will take your guns and force people into camps. Or try project end game.
You don’t think fema is capable of forcing us into concentration camps? Look at what happened during hurricane Katrina. That was just a practice run for what they have in store for you. After the next 911 there’s going to be even more camps and there going to force everyone in there and try to take your guns.
Mr Bush has said if there’s another 911 he’s going to get rid of the constitution, which he has no right to do. He also referred to it as a “God damn piece of paper”
Rebuilding Americas defences, which is a document by Jeb Bush, dick Chaney and those who have the real power said: “Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalysing event- like a new Pearl Harbour” but don’t take my word for it read it for yourself. Its page 63 so even if they had nothing to do with 911 there still using it as an excuse to carry out that agenda.
New American century . org / Rebuilding Americas Defenses . pdf
also Jeb Bush signed a Florida TWO YEAR emergency order
4 days BEFORE attack on Friday, September 7 called Executive Order No. 01-261. He said “I hereby order members of the Florida National Guard into active service, to support law-enforcement personnel and emergency-management personnel in the event of civil disturbances and to support to law-enforcement personnel. This Executive Order shall remain in full force and effect until the earlier of its revocation or June 30, 2003."
eionews. addr. Com / psyops / news / jebknew . htm
and why did fema show up in new York a day before 911?
There’s plenty of evidence to prove 911 was an inside job.
I also thought I’d point out that the man who woke me up is a right wing conservative. So it’s hardly a left wing theory.
A patriot isn’t someone who supports the president of America. A patriot is someone who supports the constitution at all costs and defends it when it comes under fire.
oh and dont forget the ww and theres no spaces in any of the url’s

As for the destruction o your constitution read section 213 which gives “AUTHORITY FOR DELAYING NOTICE OF THE EXECUTION OF A WARRANT”
SEC. 213.
Again read the 4th amendment: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. And there are not sunsetted, the media is lying about that. SEC. 224 SUNSET.
Your so called protection gives you no protection
SEC. 316. ANTI-TERRORIST FORFEITURE PROTECTION
SEC. 802. gives a new definition of terrorisim
the term `domestic terrorism' means activities that--
`(A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State
Yes I know infowars is a conspiracy site but you can read it in any version of the patriot act.
Also the camps aren’t just for Muslims. Even if they were there American citizens and they should have the same rights as everyone else.
