Steel: and apparently communism makes you rich, if you're in charge. Otherwise you're dirt poor.
Sounds like feudalism in ancient europe: a few at the top who wield all the power and own pretty much all the wealth, and many at the bottom who slave away at the whim of their masters, with no chance of moving up. Is that the society you want steel, because that what communism always seems to produce.
And if it's not communism why do you keep leaping to their defense?
Yes, but ... This doesn't strike me as an event limited to communism. Seems to me it applies to most 'World Leader' situations, and the poorer the nation, the more likely it is to happen.
Oy vey. Don't let the goyim in on this grand scam.
Herzog, there is nowhere for anyone to go in a capitalist society... you reach a certain stratosphere then you stay there. In a socialist system your station isnt decided by your birth and class. I quite understand the right wings reluctance to give up the wealth they stole and redistribute it.
Some of them them were corrupt bastards and stole a lot of money but you seem to be making a generalization. Gorbachev, for example, made pizza hut commercials soon after the fall of the iron curtain. ffs...
Why do socialist have to be poor? Its not compulsory.... socialism is about fairness and not a race to the bottom. It is quite feasible to be socialist and live comfortaly, the sack cloth and ashes are purely voluntary.
We all have to remeber that the communist/socialist movement is nothing more than another form of organized crime and like the Mafia and Yakuza the socialist make a killing. Why do you think people espouse Socialism? It's because they want to get rich without doing the work.
That argument is hollow. I work very hard and I am not rich. Whereas those at the top rarely do any work but are paid very handsomely. If you are going to try and denounce socialism, at least make a cogent argument and not one from heresay you heard from indoctrination.
Cath: limited to communism? No, although the stratification and disparity in wealth is greatest in communist regimes because the top has so much and the bottom is so crushingly poor. But communism is the only regime the preaches complete economic equality, and then they fall far short of it. For instance: adultery isn't limited to the clergy, but it's worse when they do it because they so adamently preach against it.
Steel: in a capitalist society your position is determined by many things, hard work, talent, intelligence, luck, persistance, etc. In a communist nation your status is determined by how effectively you can kill off your superiors and transfer blame to someone else. Look at the entire high command of any communist nation, they all have blood on their hands. I prefer the system where you might be held back by fewer oppurtunities and poor luck to one where you will almost certainly be held back by the government and the only way to rise is literally off the blood of others.
Steel: socialists have to be poor because socialism doesn't produce anything. It robs plenty, but it doesn't produce.
You do talk utter bollocks sometimes Herzog. Socialism means that wealth earned by all is distributed to all. Capitalism is the opposite, the people still do the work, but share none of the wealth. This fundamental fact eludes you for some reason.
Steel: christianity preaches tolerance, generosity towards the poor, equality, all those nice things. Would you like a fundamentalist christian regime then? Christ loved the poor, he helped them out all the time, why not let his followers rule your life?
What? When we can have the neo-cons rule our lives for us?
Communism is only capitalism limited to a select few.
Steel capitalism is based on meritocracy and therefore people are payed by their quality of work. You might say that a CEO does not deserve a 7 figure salary however the simple fact is that not to many people can run a fortune 500 company successful and therefore the market will grant him a high salary because the service he preforms is in high demand and low supply. You say that people at the top do not work hard well that argument is utterly hollow it self.CEO's work extremely hard, they are under a great deal of pressure;one false move and their entire company can fail and they will be on the streets.
Communist leaders don't ALWAYS end up incredibly wealthy. Ho Chi Minh had a very modest lifestyle, right up until his death.
