HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT DOMESTIC SPYING?

[+] serious ballot by xxxxxxxx
ACTIVE Fri May 19, 06 - Sat May 19, 07

Here's what troubles me about the reaction to recent revelations that our phone companies (unless you have QWEST) have been turning over our calling records to the NSA: According the the Associated Press, a majority of Americans say they don't mind having their phone records surveilled.

No one seems to follow that if the government is allowed to act unlawfully, that it sets the stage for future illegal conduct.

And, do you notice how this administration reacts when it is accused of wrongdoing with this spying on Americans?

Everyone associated with the program is convinced it’s “lawful” but when someone suggests they run it by a judge the room clears like someone shot a puppy in the face.

The program needs to end and the careers of everyone involved need to do the same.

What do you think about this issue? Does it trouble you that your phone records are now in some CIA/NSA computer files?

I'm not worried; I haven't done anything wrong.
It is evil and needs to stop
It's okay with me if they get a judge to agree
Who, cares, eh?

It's wrong.

It's illegal.

It is against everything this country was founded on.

Maybe when Hillary can obtain records of the Republican National Commitee adn free Republic in 2009, we'll see if that wakes them up to the principle.

Depends on what you mean. Spying on my partner to see if they cheat should be OK.

Limited domestic spying involving suspected terrorists when a court agrees is OK. This really isn't any different than tapping a suspected regular criminal's phone.

The wholesale gathering of all calls made, etc. Dumb idea, waste of time, illegal and ineffective. Far better and more effective and did I mention "legal" ways to do this.

Granted, I haven't done anything more untoward with a phone than the odd late-night *luuuuv* chat, but I still don't want that in the public pervue, even if it's *only* the *record* of it.
