Boyle: ...on the north and east side of 7 it didn’t look like there was any damage at all, but then you looked on the south side of 7 there had to be a hole 20 stories tall in the building, with fire on several floors. Debris was falling down on the building and it didn’t look good.
Firehouse: When you looked at the south side, how close were you to the base of that side?
Boyle: I was standing right next to the building, probably right next to it.
Firehouse: When you had fire on the 20 floors, was it in one window or many?
Boyle: There was a huge gaping hole and it was scattered throughout there. It was a huge hole. I would say it was probably about a third of it, right in the middle of it. And so after Visconti came down and said nobody goes in 7, we said all right, we’ll head back to the command post. We lost touch with him. I never saw him again that day."
Fire chief Daniel Nigro clearly thought the building could collapse.
"The biggest decision we had to make was to clear the area and create a collapse zone around the severely damaged . A number of fire officers and companies assessed the damage to the building. The appraisals indicated that the building's integrity was in serious doubt."

"...also we were pretty sure that 7 World Trade Center would collapse. Early on, we saw a bulge in the southwest corner between floors 10 and 13, and we had put a transit on that and we were pretty sure she was going to collapse. You actually could see there was a visible bulge, it ran up about three floors. It came down about 5 o’clock in the afternoon, but by about 2 o’clock in the afternoon we realized this thing was going to collapse.

Hayden: No, not right away, and that’s probably why it stood for so long because it took a while for that fire to develop. It was a heavy body of fire in there and then we didn’t make any attempt to fight it. That was just one of those wars we were just going to lose. We were concerned about the collapse of a 47-story building there. We were worried about additional collapse there of what was remaining standing of the towers and the Marriott, so we started pulling the people back after a couple of hours of surface removal and searches along the surface of the debris. We started to pull guys back because we were concerned for their safety."

Let us look at the "pull it" remark.
We need to look at Silverstein's remarks in context that day. He stated that his primary concern was for the firefighter's safety. Because of this, when collapse seemed imminent, the fire commander ordered out (or "pulled" out) his firefighters on the scene. Let us look at chief Nigro's own words:
"The most important operational decision to be made that afternoon was the collapse had damaged 7 World Trade Center, which is about a 50 story building, at Vesey between West Broadway and Washington Street. It had very heavy fire on many floors and I ordered the evacuation of an area sufficient around to protect our members, so we had to give up some rescue operations that were going on at the time and back the people away far enough so that if 7 World Trade did collapse, we wouldn't lose any more people."

"Then we found out, I guess around 3:00 o' clock, that they thought 7 was going to collapse. So, of course, we've got guys all in this pile over here and the main concern was get everybody out, and I guess it took us over an hour and a half, two hours to get everybody out of there...
This whole pile was burning like crazy. Just the heat and the smoke from all the other buildings on fire, you couldn't see anything. So it took us a while and we ended up backing everybody out, and that is when 7 collapsed."

There were guys going into areas that I wasn’t even really comfortable with, because of the possibility of secondary collapses. We didn’t know how stable any of this area was. We pulled everybody back probably by 3 or 3:30 in the afternoon. We said, this building is going to come down, get back. It came down about 5 o’clock or so, but we had everybody backed away by then."

Seems to me that you are implying that somehow the Fire depart was in collusion with Mr. Silverstein. That is a desecration of the memory of the firefighters who died that day.
Well, I don't believe the conspiracy theories about 9/11, but, having this view, I do not think it fair to characterize my position as an official "fairy tale," "impossible," and possessing "glaring anomalies."
Every time there is some public tragedy in America, hordes of sensation seeking newshounds, would-be authors, and general paranoids descend on the scene to uncover "evidence" of a conspiracy. Do they find it? Of course. How much more exciting (and newsworthy) is a conspiracy than the humdrum facts of a matter? We LOVE conspiracies and secrets, and our news media know it!
ANY human event or action put under intense scrutiny will ALWAYS turn up "anomalies," "inconsistencies," and places where things appear not to connect well.
If you spit on the sidewalk and have it examined with the same microscope as the JFK assassination, or the 9-11 attacks, a lot of strange facts will emerge. It's the nature of the beast.
I do not outright deny conspiracy theories. In fact, I enjoy reading them as entertainment. And, now and again, an actual conspiracy is turned up.
On the whole, however, I think the number of actual conspiracies is dwarfed by the claims of such conspiracies.

How about going to the 9/11 Commission report: "All the hijacked aircraft were in one of NORAD’s Continental U.S. sectors, the Northeast Air Defense Sector (also known as NEADS). NEADS is based in Rome, New York. On 9/11, it could call on two alert sites, each with one pair of ready fighters. These were the 2 Otis Air National Guard Base in Cape Cod, Massachusetts and Langley Air Force Base in Langley, Virginia".

Some of these claims are rather strange. It is a common event in the work place that people have doctor's appointments, meetings off-site, and fire drills. These don't make a conspiracy.
Flashes, explosions. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out alternative explanations. Have you ever set a computer on fire (with a massive one)? Ever done the same to other electronic equipment at work? Hearing what you think is an explosion does NOT equal intentionally set explosives going off.
Also, every controlled demolition I have seen results in the immediate collapse of a building when the explosives are set off. The testimony of these people OBVIOUSLY means that this didn't happen as at least some of them survived or we wouldn't have their testimony.
Here is another take from a Civil Engineering magazine regarding "explosions" in a building like the World Trade Centers:
Once movement begins the entire portion of the building above the area of impact falls in a unit, pushing a cushion of air below it. As this cushion of air is pushed through the impact area, fires burning in that area are fed by new oxygen and are pushed outward, creating the illusion of a secondary explosion. Although the tower appears to collapse in its own footprint, subsequent review of aerial photographs of the site after the collapse—as well as damage to adjacent structures—will suggest that debris impacted the Marriott Hotel (WTC 3), the Customs House (WTC 6), the Morgan Stanley building (WTC 5), WTC 7, and the American Express and Winter Garden buildings located across West Street. The debris field extended as far as 500 ft from the tower base.
The structural damage sustained by each of the two buildings as aircraft impacted them was massive. The fact that the structures were able to sustain this level of damage and remain standing for an extended period of time is remarkable and is the reason that most building occupants were able to evacuate safely. Events of this type, resulting in such massive damage, are generally not considered in building design, and the fact that these structures were able to successfully withstand such damage is noteworthy.
Preliminary analyses of the damaged structures, together with the fact that the structures remained standing for an extended period of time, suggest that absent severe loading events, such as a windstorm or earthquake, the buildings could have remained standing in their damaged states indefinitely. However, the structures were subjected to a severe loading event in the form of the fires caused by the aircraft impacts.
The ability of the two towers to withstand aircraft impact without immediate collapse was a direct function of their design and construction characteristics, as was the vulnerability of the two towers to collapse as a result of the combined effects of the impacts and ensuing fires. Many buildings with other design and construction characteristics would have been more vulnerable to collapse in these events than the two towers, and few may have been less vulnerable.
The BPAT determined that WTC 1 and WTC 2 each experienced a similar, though not identical, series of loading events. In essence each tower was subjected to three separate but related events. The sequence of these events was identical for both towers, but the timing was not. In each case the first event was the initial impact of a Boeing 767-200 ER series commercial aircraft into the building combined with a fireball resulting from immediate rapid ignition of the fuel on board the aircraft. Boeing 767-200 ER aircraft have a maximum rated takeoff weight of 395,000 lb, a wingspan of 156 ft 1 in., and a rated cruise speed of 530 mph. The aircraft are capable of carrying up to 23,980 gal of fuel, and it is estimated that at the time of impact, each aircraft had approximately 10,000 gal of unused fuel on board.
In each attack the aircraft impacts resulted in severe structural damage, including some localized partial collapse, but that damage did not result in the initiation of global collapse. In fact, WTC 1 remained erect for a period of approximately 1 hour and 42 minutes following the impact of the aircraft; WTC 2 remained standing for approximately 57 minutes following impact.
The second event was the simultaneous ignition and growth of fires over large floor areas on several levels of the buildings. The fires heated the structural systems and, over a period of time, resulted in additional stressing of the damaged structure as well as sufficient additional damage and loss of strength leading to a progressive sequence of failures—the third event—which culminated in the total collapse of both structures.

I don't know what to think of this whole affair, but I can toss out one interesting tidbit. Right now, the former Mrs Sheen is filing for sole custody of their kid and has asked for a restraining order, claiming that he is, among other thing, a collector of kiddy porn. Funny that that should pop out just now, to me...

This Executive Order shall remain in full force and effect until the earlier of its revocation or June 30, 2003."
