Now we have *some* people who are unwilling to seriously consider other people's opinions daring to call themselves "liberal," and people spending exorbitant amounts of public funds on war, and changing our basic freedoms by creating "new" laws under the auspice of "The Patriot Act."

Yes, I remember the day. Sad passing.
No, I don't remember this.

It seems as if the terms "liberal" and "conservative" are used differently now. They're used like last names.

Example: My last name is Murphy. In the dictionary, Murphy apparently means potato. I'm not a potato (though I sure do enjoy eating potatoes). Another example would be someone with the last name of Gray who doesn't have gray hair. While surnames originally existed to describe, they quickly became more a simple identifier than anything else.

Same with the terms "liberal" and "conservative". While in terms of social values I'm unarguably liberal (let anyone do what they want so long as it doesn't hurt someone else), fiscally I'd consider myself fairly moderate. That said, my beliefs fall in the realm of those who tend to accept the "liberal" label, thus I easily and wholeheartedly accept the liberal label.
