COMMENTS:
Capitalism is an economic system. Democracy is a social system. Apples and oranges, 'Tuck. But I like both capitalism and democracy as my economic and social systems, respectively.
^I understand they're two different things. I'm just saying that if you could only pick one...
Griff, he's asking which is more important. A capitalist system with any random type of social system (other than democracy) or a democracy with any random type of economic system (other than Capitalist). Democracy is more important to me. If you have a Democratic government then there's no oppression from the government. I'd rather live in a Communist Democracy than a Capitalist Dictatorship.
^Okay, hmmmm. All things considered I would choose democracy. However, it is difficult to imagine capitalism working without democracy.
Democracy. People should always have control of the government. Besides, if it were a democracy they could always vote in a free market later. But a dictatorship with a free market is hard to remove from power or reform.
If it is capitalist then the people will have all their rights anyway. A republic would work better than a democracy for large countries. And participatory democracy reaches its greatest height in the market.
Democracy. Capitalism has done such wonders for the freedoms of people in China.
^You mean that socialist country making a fascist transition?
^The one whose economy and standard of living has been growing at a phenomenal rate because of the introduction of a few semi-capitalist policies?
I'd rather live in a socialist democracy.
