Well first off did the family member do something to instigate their death? Like ruin the murders life or kill someone in their family?

Cannot go to the cops that some1 would go to jail had have a good time. Inflict a pain on they worse than death its self
Depends. If it was an accident, or some similar situation, then I would grieve the occurence, but would take no extra-legal action.
