That's about the distance and how long it takes to go up north from southern Michigan on holiday weekends like Memorial Day and the Fourth of July weekend. I really don't get why people go to vacation hot spots en mass the same holiday weekends. Can't at least some people take their vacations on weekends when it's not a holiday?

Apparently so. If I were 'up north' (wherever that is - North Michegan, at a guess) I'd probably take the opportunity to escape to Southern Michegan for the weekend.

I agree with patch - isn't it fairly cheap to fly by scheduled flight in the States?

I stayed in town for the holiday, though I did go swimming, and the pool was abhorrently crowded.
