See John Murtha as a good example. He realized the quagmire in Iraq, and the GOP comes out and attacks his past.

See John Kerry as another good example. He ran based on several issues, and instead of defending issues, the Republicans just attacked Kerry's character and claimed he faked war injuries.

Hell, look at Ted Kennedy. Whenever he says ANYTHING, they point to Chappaquiddick, which happened THIRTY-FOUR YEARS AGO!

Does it seem to anyone else that Democrats attack Republicans on issues but Republicans attack Democrats on personal issues?

Yes, it's very clearly so.
No, I don't see it.
They both attack each other equally
The only good thing about Democrats is that they are not Republicans.

COMMENTS:
Unfortunately slander is a more effective tool than the truth these days. I don’t blame the republicans for taking advantage of this as much as I feel affronted by the public’s outright complacency on major issues. People that think Monicagate had further reaching implications of corruption than the Downing Street Memo are at best idiots and at worst Neoconservatives.

They both use mostly personal attacks with a smattering of issue based attacks.

IMO, one party has honed smear tactics to an artform ... 'Swiftboating' was not something that came from both parties.
