As a conservative estimate, I'd say in the range of 150-200, where they were willing to admit it. The breakdown was about 75% female/25% male. I've tended to have more lesbians around than gay males, but that's just how it worked out with me.
Why are some people so terrified of homosexuals? It's not like they're a bunch of vampires, trying to turn you into one of the flaming undead.
^ exactly. fact is, we give very little thought to the fact we're gay. some gay people live a gay lifestyle and immerse themselves in gay culture. i don't. if you met me or most of my gay male friends, you'd probably never know we were gay -- most people don't. we tend not to hang out with any women though, so that might be a give away. to answer the ballot question, thousands.
I am sure that I have met many, hundreds, even, but did not know they were gay. I had two bosses who were gay. One was a funny guy who made me laugh, and one was snooty. There was a lady at my very first job who wanted me to have sex with her. She was my first contact with a gay person. I didn't do it with her because I am not homosexual. When I saw her "boyfriend", a HUGE girl who looked like a football player and MEAN, I was glad I din't, anyway! My most memorable gay relationship wasn't homexual! His name was Joe. He was my best friend and I loved him so much and he loved me. We just didn't have sex because I'm female and he was male. Kind of like Will and Grace, but we were romantic with each other. We spent all our time together and told each other everything. He was so gorgeous. He looked like a blond Elvis. I've never had as deep, emotional, and as open a relationship with any other guy. This is so sad--he told me he kept praying to God to take his homosexuality away because he wanted the desire to have sex with a woman and have a family and kids. He died of AIDS and a part of my heart went away.

I can count 23 off the top of my head whom I knew personally and were gay or bi. I've undoubtedly met many more than that in passing without knowing them or their status.
Not bad for the Midwest.
Very few. I can think of a couple of lesbians but no gay blokes. The lesbos wanted my semen to be artificially inseminated.
Couldn't say ... unless they volunteered this info, I'd have no way of knowing for sure.
Felix "It's not like they're a bunch of vampires, trying to turn you into one of the flaming undead." Unfortunately some of them ARE. Trying to turn you into flaming FAIRIES anyway.
Overly camp homosexuals, who feel they must imitate the guy out of are you being served at every opportunity annoy me. Their personality is basically defined by their personality, which I think is sad. Your personality should decide your sexuality, not the other way around.
Really. I just meet them. Most times, it's days before I find out their sexual orientation.
"Their personality is basically defined by their SEXUALITY"
We all meet lots of gay men and women, just as we heterosexuals dont 'advertise' it, so not all gay people bang on about it. People just are. LilApe seems to protest a little too much about the gay thing, sort of makes you wonder, doesn't it?
^ If I have a point? Glad to hear it!

*thinks* i don't remember everybody ofcourse but we have a very close gay friend, we became family over the years and still are, and we've met gay people through her ofcourse, she is always at the gay bars and we would go too because it was more fun than the regular bars plus you get in less fights! Gay people are just regular people, i mean you've probably met 100 of them and didn't even know it. They don't have a distinct look, there just like you and me! This "straight" bar right by our house is flooded with gay guys, it's funny because you would never guess that the people in it were friendly at all, it looks like a rundown biker bar then you go in and it has lots of gay people and 2 of them were flirting with my hubby, lol and even the scary looking bikers are like "HI! Want a beer!?" We were like, WTF, and this is out in the DESERT! I was actually scared to walk into this bar and in no time guys were kissing guys and a girl was giving a gay guy a lapdance and then the guys gave him one (with clothes on) it was just all in fun, i was really surprised this scary looking run down bar was blasting Cher on the Kareoke
Regarding Kev's post up there, (the 3'rd post) ^ MOST the gay people we know are gay as fuck, not like Kev, i mean my friends wear their rainbows and shit, the guys even, like Jay, a total sweetheart by the way, he would tell me how to do my hair, tell me how pretty i was and he may as well wear sparkley dust, i mean he was noticeably gay. Not tranny-like, i have never met a transexual ever. But i'm just saying, most gay people you wouldn't know are gay AT ALL. My friend Lori goes to every parade in SF and in LA, she is involved, she is very gay and very proud, and she is the most amazing person. She surfs too, she's a bad ass, she drives truck, she looks like a tomboy but has long hair, she's a bad mutha fukka too, she kicks ass. I miss my drinking buddy
