Actually, I do recall at least one person trying to convince others that whatever crashed into the Twin Towers were not two passenger jets. I think one of the claims was that one of the jets was actually an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle or a fighter jet -- which would have to mean that not only was ALL of the different news footage faked, but the thousands of people on the ground who witnessed the events were also in on the conspiracy.
What maybe gets me the most though is that no one who believes it was a conspiracy has put forth any actual THEORY behind the conspiracy. I'm willing to temporarily agree that the whole thing is a conspiracy in order to hear the alternative explanation behind the conspiracy.

I've heard a similar theory, Applerod. But only the unmanned plane was painted and disguised to look like a passenger jet. And had missles mounted on the bottom.

Not saying I belive or disbelieve the whole conspiracy, but the theory behind it would presumably involve the American government orchestrating the attack to frighten people into allowing the government to strip them of their human rights in the name of the "war on terror", like in 1984 basically. Creating an enemy for the public to hate is one sign of a fascist state.
Also, it helped garner support for a few invasions of Oil rich countries. Which makes sense really. The USA is the biggets economy on the planet, and subsequently uses the most resources. Yet its all for nothing if the Oil dries up. Indeed, OPEC have the power to essentially ruin the American economy by unexpectedely raising Oil prices, somehting that can only be combatted by the American government by securing the oil for themselves, i.e controlling the supply.
Until an alternative is found, Oil is the most valuable commodity on the planet, and worth killing a few thousand faceless people for Im afraid (from a government point of view)
It DOES all make sense, Its just a very hard thing to confirm or deny.

Yes, I have heard people (the usual suspects) claim this. AND actually claim that there were no windows on the airplane. Like you can make out that detail on a airplane going 500 mph several thousand feet above you.
I also saw someone say what Applerod posted.

It doesn't make any difference how much evidence or how many witnesses there were to conspiracy-minded people.
I heard they were flying saucers, piloted by bigfoot (recent converts to islam) and the illuminati.
But of course the government will deny this, which means it's true.
^Unfortunately, this is one "conspiracy" that cant be laughed off so easily IMO.
I think it was just Elvis and John F. Kennedy playing some kind of holographic video game. 
It's a cheap strawman argument on their part. The conservative politicians do the same things against liberals. They make stupid claims like "Liberals want America to be Muslim" or "Liberals hate the constitution". Something that has nothing to do with the original topic.

He resorts to this strawman argument and pretense about what other people are ALLEGED to have said - which they did NOT in fact say - because he doesn't have anything real to argue with.
A UFO hit the towers but the men in black are making up this 911 fable to cover that up.

Thanks neothe1, but I can speak for myself, there was a fourth plane that was shot down (Rumsfeld admitted this, as he did the missile), so stop lying on my behalf.

Then show a photo of the Flight 93 plane fuselage smashed into the ground instead of that little 12-20ft shallow crater.
