Perhaps science can duplicate “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” and make a pill that deletes memories you don’t want. But would you consider taking this pill? Are some memories so painful as to create a need to remove them, or are all of our memories fundamental to who we are as people and removing any detrimental to who the person is?

Yes, I would consider a pill that removes my bad memories
No, my memories are fundamental to who I am, regardless of good or bad.
it could be both, bad and good
Yes, maybe then I wouldn't be so cautious and reluctant to trust new people

As powerfully tempting as that might be ... no. I sacrificed much and/or paid very high prices at various points of my life. And while some knowledge/ experience came at a high cost, the fact is ... it came.

Ultimately, I would choose to retain even the unpleasant. No one can appreciate the term 'bittersweet' without such experience.

I agree with the mad professor :o) I've learned some important lessons from my bad memories.

Yes, I've often thought of something like this. Instead of resorting to drugs and alcohol, you could resort to a pill or something that has just a few side-effects or none.

see, i wouldnt take that pill because my painful memories makes me who i am today but on the flip side of that some people that are really sick like child molesters, rapists or the ones with other sick fetishes may be into that kind of stuff from a past bad memory so if they took the pill and their bad memories or memory disappeared maybe that would cure them of their sick ways

I'd hang onto every memory, painful or not. It made me who/what I am.
