DO YOU SOMETIMES FIND YOURSELF WISHING FOR THE ‘PLUG AND PLAY’ VIDEO GAMES OF DAYS GONE BY?

Today’s video games are incredible, the realism and detail, storylines, and controller abilities are outstanding. But, there is very little chance of just putting a game into the system, turning it on, and playing that game immediately. There are like 12 buttons on the controllers now, hundreds of controller options with some games, and certain manuals you can buy for games have literally thousands of pages in them.

With the complication involved with learning to play any new video games, do you find yourself longing for the days when you could just plug the game in and play it with little preparation or practice?

Yes, I miss those old games
No, I like the games we have today WAY better.

COMMENTS:
I'm all thumbs. The fact that I can even last through the first level of *any* game is a miracle. I'll take the old stuff.

That is one of the reasons I like the Nintendo DS so much. Games for the portable system tend to be quicker to get into and out of, as they are often designed with the idea of on-the-go playing in mind. The limited hardware also helps retain some of the charming simplicity found in older games. Check out "Wario Ware: Touched" for great fun that can last just minutes or several hours.
