Do you or did you have a weird or eccentric relative?

I had an aunt who had floor length red hair. She wore it in braids wrapped over her head German style. She wore clothes like Margaret Meade-pith helmet, khaki shorts, knee socks. She smoked a cigar. She was a school teacher and incredibly intelligent but ECCENTRIC. My Mom was trying to buy me a prom dress in a store and my aunt picked out just “the thing”—a clown plaid sack dress with a black pilgrim collar. My Mom said “No, no, put it back.”

I really miss my aunt. She was unique and also the most adventurous and fun-loving person I ever knew.

I have no eccentric relative.

I was going to describe my great-aunt Mary who had a teensy problem with not being able to throw anything away. However, she was probably mentally ill, not eccentric. Your aunt sounds like one in a BILLION - what a great lady. You should write a book - or at least a story - about her. I LOVE your description!
