According to the Washington Post, US Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) drew boos and hisses from an audience of liberal activists (June 13, 2006) as she defended her opposition to a timetable for withdrawing U.S. forces from Iraq, and later she received an implicit rebuke from Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) for failing to acknowledge that her support for the war was a mistake.

COMMENTS:
I'll admit: I see her as an political opportunist -- not a Liberal.

And I laugh when wingnuts foam at how she is a poster child for evil Liberal Democrats.

Leans, do liberals have to agree on every issue?
by oh_what_a_relief on Wed Jun 14, 06 1:04pm [+]

She has one eye on the 2008 primaries and the more 'conservative' credentials she can produce, the better her chances.
by Steelhamster on Wed Jun 14, 06 1:07pm [+]

Politics make strange bedfellows , they do what they need to get votes, that's true steel, but I would vote for her, yep , I sure would.
by oh_what_a_relief on Wed Jun 14, 06 1:13pm [+]

Hardly. One of the great myths. Neither was her husband. The guy who signed NAFTA and the Republican welfare reform bill. She is even more a political opportunist than Bill. I'm quite sure that she will do and say anything to get the power she craves.
by FiddleFaddleOnLSD on Wed Jun 14, 06 1:17pm [+]

^Don't all politicians do that?
by oh_what_a_relief on Wed Jun 14, 06 1:19pm [+]

Hillary goes whichever way the wind blows at the moment. Look up the word "politician" in Webster's, find her pic.
by Truthseeker013 on Wed Jun 14, 06 1:20pm [+]

oh, I guess I'm only one that thinks she leans liberal.
by oh_what_a_relief on Wed Jun 14, 06 1:57pm [+]

For the fact that she had the guts to promote a national health care plan, in the face of tremendous opposition, gets her a permanent kudos from me. I believe her efforts will be remembered as a watershed in the long, hard struggle for national health care in the U.S.

Plus, I'm a liberal, and I don't think there should be a timetable, either.

However, Ms. Leather Panties has some real downsides, too. There is no doubt that she and El Presidente Bush have one thing in common: opportunistic natures.
by cranky on Wed Jun 14, 06 2:44pm [+]

^I know, I'm a liberal too, we're not a bunch of robots all programmed to agree with each other on every issue
by oh_what_a_relief on Wed Jun 14, 06 3:05pm [+]

Ms. Leather Panties!!! haha good one.
by FiddleFaddleOnLSD on Wed Jun 14, 06 3:23pm [+]

Aren't liberals bragging about being in favor of change? Well she certainly is a liberal in that sense, her politics are in a constant state of change depending on the latest polling data and who's in front of her at the moment.

Liberal or not, she's 100% democrat.
by herzog on Wed Jun 14, 06 5:02pm [+]

She's a wind chime: she lean whichever way the wind is blowing, and regardless of the direction, she'll make a lot of irritating noise.
by herzog on Wed Jun 14, 06 6:16pm [+]

I think wind chimes are soothing to the ear.
by oh_what_a_relief on Wed Jun 14, 06 6:24pm [+]

yes, i do. i happen to think that she is an independet thinker. some may see it as political pandering, but knowing the woman, she is not they type to let undue influence change her stance.
by Kev24 on Wed Jun 14, 06 6:27pm [+]

Gotta agree with Cathexis -- she's a political opportunist.
by xxxxxxxx on Wed Jun 14, 06 7:42pm [+]

She is definitely not a liberal.
by thc2883 on Thu Jun 15, 06 5:48am [+]

Does anyone really know what politicians are, as many pointed out , they do what gets them votes. I guess if you know them personally , but not many voters have that advantage
by oh_what_a_relief on Thu Jun 15, 06 6:09am [+]

well lets see she wants government to control our healthcare (when we can't even control our budget now), she wants more taxes, less military, more international involvement in our Government. sounds like a liberal to me. but i have to admit so has the last 3 presidents even though they claim to be conservetives well 2 of them do. it seems like every body is being told what to do that is why I made ballot #95584 it makes me wonder if there is a differnce between liberal or conservative when both are doing the same thing when it come to the finances of the nation.
by trebor on Thu Jun 15, 06 11:54am [+]

trebor: No, they are not doing the same. The last Democratic government was Centrist and fiscally responsible.

The same cannot be said of the past two Bush terms.
by Cathexis on Thu Jun 22, 06 8:28am [+]

She's a liberal leaning opportunist, but most politicians politic.
