Japan has recently obtained a majority on the International Whaling Commission to oppose the 1986 ban on commercial whaling.

According to the Cetaceous Society, whales are sentient, wild mammals that live in extended family pods, communicate with each other and swim vast distances. Their brains are just as complex as humans' and many times larger.

Should it be legal to hunt these creatures?

Yes: It should be legal to hunt whales
No: It should not be legal to hunt whales
In certain circumstances

And I recently read an article about how most Japanese hate the taste and texture of whale meat (very fatty with an unpleasant bouquet). However, many still want legal whale-hunting in Japan simply because they don't like anyone telling them what they can and cannot do.

IMO, banning the hunting of whales is an example of a GOOD regulation.

When you come right down to it, who's the more endangered species - whales or humans?

The entire idea of whaling is stupid, IMO. I don't think that there's *anything* that comes out of a whale that you can't create in a lab.
