CORPORATE CO-OPTING OF EMPLOYEE CREDIT

[+] serious ballot by Cathexis
ACTIVE Wed Jun 21, 06 - Sun Dec 07, 08

At every corporation at which I have ever worked, the company required the employee to use his/her personal credit card for common expenses (training, business travel, etc.), instructing the employee to submit a reimbursement form, at a later date.

Should this be viewed as an acceptable Business practice?

Yes: Leveraging company credit by co-opting employees' is Good Business
No: It is an unwarranted imposition on employees

Soulless Evil Inc did it all the time. Peeved them off by paying cash for all my travel expenses.

Do the company also pay any interest charges?

Given that some credit cards carry and APR of 28% or more, this can be a tidy sum.

by Steelhamster on Wed Jun 21, 06 1:16pm [+]

Steel: No ... at least not the companies I have worked for.
by Cathexis on Wed Jun 21, 06 1:39pm [+]

worse yet, in some bubble economies, the company can go belly up oweing you money.

so when you are entertaining the company clients using your amex, make sure you file for reimbursement as soon as you get back in the office :)

LCD: Yup. That happened to me when I took a training course. Stuck with a $925 bill when the company went under.
