COMMENTS:
Do you also believe thieves should have their hands cut off to prevent them stealing again? Its the 21st century guy.
They should be put to death the slowest and most painful way as possible, as should first degree murderers.
This is another example of the mindless hysteria that paedophilia seems to envoke in people, similar that which caused thugs to drive a paediatrician from her home after taking her job title to mean she was a paedophile. Paedophiles are criminals, and should be treated like other criminals. Not treated like medieval torture victims.
While we are at it, why don't we bring back the guillotine just for this purpose? People think "castration" is the answer. Child molestation is rape. Rape is an act of violence. Treat this like any other crime. I also challenge people to look up the facts on recidivism rates. The Department of Justice has them. So before you bring out the iron maiden, thumbscrews, the rack, etc., look up the facts instead of responding out of hysteria.
Yes! And thieves should have both hands cut off. And Adulterers should be castrated too. And tax cheats should be thrown out of their homes. And debtors should be put in Debtors prison and their children too, until the debt is paid off. Bring back the days of darkness!
Oh yeah, and Jews, Protestants and Muslims are Heritics and we should employ the same tactics as Torquemada.
publically :D

You can still violate a child even if you are castrated.
Very good everybody good show, good comments. I have first hand knowledge of several someone’s being molested by several people as they were growing up. Their family members still hate them to this day because they had the gall to claim that a relative or friend had molested them and several others. One of the things that most people don't stop and think about is the deterrent factor. Yes it would stop a lot of them from even thinking about it. lil_ape it is not hysteria to want someone to be properly punished for destroying a Childs life because they could not control themselves. This does not mean we do not forgive them. Consequences for killing a child mentally should be more than just a little jail time. And yes I used the word killed intentionally because these kids that are molested have to deal with this for the rest of their lives. Some of them even repeat what happened to them because that is what happens when you do that to a child it imprints that behavior permanently on that child. And it effects all those that are related to them as well not just that child Applerod Granted castration may not always work. But if they do it again after that, then their reign of terror should be stopped, by permanently stopping them One more point I can pretty much guarantee you there is no such thing as one time offender by the time the get convicted. Usually by the time they actually get caught they have done it either to that person several times or to several other people. So why should we go easy on someone who has destroyed several peoples lives?
Hand them over to the parents! Simple.
Either castrated or sent on sex tours of the Dominican Republic with Rush Limbaugh.
I have to agree with lil_ape and FF ... we are supposed to be a society of Law, not a reactive mob.
Trebor.... look up the recidivism rate before you suggest things like castration. I think you will be highly surprised. Also, castration does not mean that someone cannot physically harm another person. You think impairing the sex drive would stop the problem. It wouldn't.
'I have to agree with lil_ape and FF ... we are supposed to be a society of Law, not a reactive mob.' cathexis, maybe that would be the case if the law handed down sentences that fit the seriousness of the crime. When in some cases they receive less jail time than a common criminal, what ya gonna do?
IC: Work to change the laws. Not go nuts and sink to barbarism ourselves.
fiddlefaddle and others: I totally understand that castration does not take away the urge in all cases. That is not the goal to take away the urge. Like I said in my answer earlier that it is a trait most often handed down because it is imbedded into their mind permanently. And because of that castration will not erase the desire totally. But it will cause those that have not started the act to reconsider the consequences. That is what we need to do is put a punishment in the laws like maybe castration to keep it from escalating into what it has become. To often we are much too worried about the criminals’ rights and not the people that they have destroyed or will destroy. It is not about mob mentality. We have these laws on the books but are not using them to the fullest. seeballot #96440 It would be wrong to just to castrate them. But if they have been convicted then the punishment must fit the crime. and quite frankly it is totally naïve to think that just putting them in a warehouse for criminals is good enough for all crimes. No I am not advocating acting like they did in the dark ages but they did not have the legal system that we have in most of our countries that we have today. No it is not perfect but it is immensely better than it was a hundred years ago. Sorry how can jail be good enough for all crimes when in most cases those that have gone in want to go back? And it is proving to be less of punishment and deterrent every day because we make it to easy for them.
With a small, dull knife.
Castration isn't *nearly* an answer to the problem. But, solely IMO, the bastards deserve to hurt a little in exchange.
By the powers invested in me by mob rule, 'hurt a little' just wouldn't come near to what I'd have in mind!
internalcolonel I agree that we are a nation of laws and part of laws is putting those laws to work and to put some real punishment be hind them. There are laws that we should utilize if for no other reason than to rid ourselves of the plague of that individual person that has molested or murdered someone or especially several someone’s. I think the reason why some people are afraid of harsh punishment is because they are afraid they may do the crime and don’t want to have the punishment done to them. Well like they say if you can’t do the time don’t do the crime.
