It's ballot title like this that brings traffic from search engines...

lol, yeah, but who will those people searching be?

Under 18, how far under?
by oh_what_a_relief on Fri Jul 07, 06 2:40pm [+]

Not in your case.
by xxxxxxxx on Fri Jul 07, 06 2:44pm [+]

Jesus LCD hell no!Children are not old enough to give consent and therefore sex with them should not be legal, even if the sex is with another child.Perhasp we should not label minors as sex offenders but we don't have to go to the other extreme and legalize child sex.

Did you go to the Netherlands on your vacation because this ballot would suggest that?
by Corrupt on Fri Jul 07, 06 2:46pm [+]

And to think that you rated me down for my ballot about kids having sex with kittens LCD!? Pot kettle black anyone? concider yourself rated down mithththster! *lisp*
by xxxxxxxx on Fri Jul 07, 06 2:49pm [+]

I like playing the devils advocate.

ok, so if 2 children on their prom night, rent a hotel room for a night of debauchery, then they should both be what....

prosecuted?
councilled?
put on a megan's list?

are we being realistic? Latest stats suggest over 75% of kids under 18 are having sex.

discuss.
by LCD on Fri Jul 07, 06 2:50pm [+]

16 or 17 I wouldn't think they should be prosecuted.
by oh_what_a_relief on Fri Jul 07, 06 2:53pm [+]

so who, what or when do we draw the line?
by LCD on Fri Jul 07, 06 2:55pm [+]

If two kids 8 years old had sex they should be counselled, one age 8 one 14 . The 14 yr old should be prosecuted
by oh_what_a_relief on Fri Jul 07, 06 2:57pm [+]

Where is the line, who draws it and how?
by oh_what_a_relief on Fri Jul 07, 06 2:58pm [+]

So why did you rate doc down then LCD? Its ok for you to make light of these things and not others?
by xxxxxxxx on Fri Jul 07, 06 2:59pm [+]

LCD: If it is was a trisch of consent than if the parents of the older person wanted to press charges then the older person should be charged with stagatory rape.He of She should not be label a pedophile and should not be put on Megan's list.Your been very short sighted here;legalizing sex with children will not only allow teenagers to have sex with eachother but will also allow adults to do the same.Nobody wants that.
by Corrupt on Fri Jul 07, 06 3:00pm [+]

Thank you LCD. I agree.

However, the faithful of the Christian church are shocked, disgusted and abhore the disgraceful acts of pedo-priests. In contrast to this, every action of Muhammad is praised, and worse and unfortunately, exemplified by his followers.

Yes, I too have concerns about the small minority of mentally ill humans that have transgressed acceptable human moral behavior by sexually abusing and molesting children. But it concerns me more that a man calling himself a PROPHET from god, and claiming to be god's personal MESSENGER did not set the example of a true HOLY man and prophet, one that claims he communicated with angels.

A Holy angel-communicating-prophet that dirtectly communicates with god should not be having sex with children. Instead he should be teaching his followers ethicical and moral behavior, and do so by leading by example. Acts of rape, child molestation, mass murder, looting, slavery, torture and terrorism is certainly not the behavior of a TRUE Holy Prophet from god.

What you say LCD only re-enforces the truth, that Muhammad was obviously not a holy man, but merely a mentally deranged narccisist. Thanks again.
by Jinn_the_Kafir on Fri Jul 07, 06 4:42pm [+]

It's happening now, and prosecuting such is, IMO, a waste of time and resources better spent elsewhere.

lcd, SEX WITH CHILDREN : SHOULD IT BE LEGAL?

You're guilty of something, if it's only using childrens misery to promote your website!

'It's ballot title like this that brings traffic from search engines...

Watch out Maury Povich, too can play that game.'

I once had the utmost respect for you, dude.
by xxxxxxxx on Fri Jul 07, 06 10:11pm [+]

IMO, one o fthe problems is with the binary definition of "child." Personally, I think 17 and 18 are pretty much adults, albeit inexperienced. I might still have reservations about 40 year olds cruising for teens, but maybe that's the additional break-out -- one segment that is considered children (12 and under), one segment which is considered adult but protected from predation (say, 16 - 18).

Yes, I am aware there is a gap in my suggestion ... 13 - 15 is a grey zone for me. Or maybe that is yet another category that I just don't know how to delimit.
by Cathexis on Sat Jul 08, 06 8:38am [+]

That's a very good question. First, I would differentiate between "child" and "adolescent." People don't pop into some portal as children and pop out as adults. This of course runs in direct opposition to the idea that 18 separates people on a sexual basis. But if we're going to do that, which we do, it only stands to reason that there should be some official recognition of what age range constitutes adolescence. I say 14-18. Therefore, if two 'adolescents' are "caught" having sex (a.k.a. performing human nature), then the worst the person catching them should be able to do is to throw condoms at them.

- That of course implies consent. If one adolescent is assaulted sexually by another, that is a criminal matter. If a child (under 14) is assaulted by an adolescent or an adult, then that is a serious criminal matter. But the notion that a 19-year old and a 17-year old having consensual sex equals an automatic rape charge for the 19-year old, who is then branded a sex offender for life, is absurd.

Now obviously there will be grey areas. Heck, "sex crime" (outside of rape and pedophilia) is one big grey area. So cases that merit individual consideration should be given so.

Sexual repression is unnatural. Pretty much every (Western) country aside from the U.S. understands that. People check I.D.'s for sex here, which is no exagerration.
by Applerod on Sat Jul 08, 06 9:48am [+]

(P.S. I wrote my comment before I read Cathexis'.)
by Applerod on Sat Jul 08, 06 9:53am [+]

unless you believe that the day a person hits whatever the AOC is where they are (it's 14 here) they are suddenly filled with all the knowledge and maturity they need to make an educated choice, then you have to judge it individually. there are some people who live their entire lives and are never mature enough for a physical relationship. most people aren't even mature enough until they're into their 40s. age is irrelevant, the issue is maturity. it's not the years in your life, it's the life in your years.

LCD: Minors can't give "explicit consent." Whatever the legal age is... that is where the line is. Prosecute anyone crossing that line, and let the duly elected judge determine the appropriate penalty in each case, on a case by case basis. If the judge's penalties turn out to be insufficient... then vote him/her out of office in the next election cycle.

Why are we even discussing this sh!t?

I agree with InteralColonel. This is the kind of shit that draws search engine traffic. And also very likely draws perverts and freaks into a milieu where ther are underage users who could be targetted and preyed upon by said freaks. Very irresponsible of you LCD. If your intention was to ask a valid question, (instead of just to shock), you could have phrased it differently. Kinda scuzzy.....tsk
