DO WE 'OWE' FUTURE GENERATIONS?

Do you believe that we have a right to immediate gratification -- to maximize use of whatever resources are available *now*?

or do you believe we have an obligation to future generations -- that is, that we should be foregoing pleasures/ gratification, with an eye to *their* lifestyle?

No: What right do future generations have over our rights *now*?
A little, but only in not making the planet completely uninhabitable (too soon)
Some, but our rights have priority
Some, but it is OK for them to end up paying for some of our pleasures
Yes: We should be letting them start with a clean slate, even if it means foregoing pleasures now
Yes: We should be leaving this a *better* world for them, even if it means foregoing some pleasures

And we better start now before we go down in the book of history as the most hated generation ever.

I would prefer if everyone else in the world would go without so I can still live like a decadent pig

We are entitled to enjoyment of our lives and have a responsibility to future lives. In my experiences, that's how it is.

MY issue with this is every little baby that's pooped out onto the world right now (5 or 6 every second, folks: *plop *plop *plop) didn't ask to be born, it's parents are giving it this pitiful dirty world. Maybe a few decades ago it didn't seem like such a big deal but now there's no way in Hell I'd bring MY Angel into this ugly mess.
Future generations won't get to decide to live on Earth, their parents will give it to them whether it's good for them or the planet or whatever.
Heck yes we need to at least Try to insure there's a future.

All of you who are adults now owe me and my geneation and future generations everything. If you keep screwing things up, if we should all manage to survive, when you're old, we're going to lock you all away....or eat you...one or the other, or both.

I want my kids to have it better than me. But if I struck it big, they wouldn't inherit the entire fortune.

dazzle: I suggest that your added ballot choice did not answer the question.
