How about guided evolution? Not by God, but by our own genes making calculated decisions like a computer can; a very high powered computer. There's a lot more processing power in those genes than we currently give them credit for, I seriously suspect, and there are some weird problems that evolutionary theory can't explain - like the development of the human eye. Did you know it was discovered fairly recently that within the genes of plants, are zip-file like data describing the genetic code of all the plant's ancestral types? They can revert to previous versions of themselves in later generations for a changed climate and other conditions. It's also been discovered that chimpanzees had a more evolved and more intelligent ancestor, and they de-volved. That implies that animals have genetic zip-files of their ancestors genetic code as well.
As far as Science goes -- Evolution. Whether that is a tool of some other theological plan ... I'm open to discussion, but not in the Science classroom.

Intelligent design was thought up when it became clear the biblical creationism was looking less and less possible. Intelligent design caters for those people who are desperate to hang on to a pointless religion.

If only 'intelligent design' was actually what it sounded like. But some of the ideas are outlandish, IMO.

Intelligent design is creationism. It is also the belief of primitive sheep.

I agree with Steelhamster. Intelligent design is simply creationism packaged in a different wrapper. It's a scam of deception thought up by the desperate religious side in order to continue promoting creationism, which is losing the battle as civilization advances into the modern and realistic future.
