The only time I'd blackmail any of my friends like that is if the person they were involved with was very clearly dangerous. Otherwise it's blackmail, pure and simple, and very very foul.

Yes. One of my clients gave me a pair of tickets to a Beck concert. I called a friend and invited him (figuring I'd have more fun partying with him). My wife still reminds me about it.
Words of advice...don't do what I did.
