COMMENTS:
18 seems like a reasonable age to me.I might even say 16 or 17 but anything younger than that is a mistake.
I think there should be some type of maturity test to determine what the age of consent is. and that same age of consent should also be applied on someone's buying alcohol, tobacco and drugs. also to go to war, go to vote, be able to drive, be able to get credit, etc.

^So if a 13 yr old passes your maturity test we should allow him to strap on an M-16 and fight for his country?Sound we also repeal child labor laws?
Sure. If they really know the consequences of their actions. although I think they should finish rudimentary education, but let's say they have passed high school equivalency test and has the intelligence of the average 18 year olds, then by all means.

In the UK, you can pay taxes and get married but don't have the vote... 16 is a good age to be, and not to sound condecending, Europeans are not so 'hung up' on the whole sex issue. The excludes Britian that teaches Sex Ed around 13 has the highest pregnancy rate, while the Netherlands which teaches Sex Education from the age of 7 has the lowest, conclusions to be drawn perhaps. Just realise I have digressed a little, so will leave it at that.
There should perhaps be a graded age of consent. I would consider two 15 year-olds who consider themselves in love are going to have sex whatever anyone says and shouldn't be punished for it - let's just hope they're careful. On the other hand, a 30 year old man shouldn't be allowed to have sex with a 15 year old girl. I won't suggest a graph of legality; not something that should be considered so lightly.
Europe isn't a single country.
^ not a single country. But there are a lot of laws the EU enforces as a whole.
^ and there is shared culture as well to a large extent. Very distinct from Asia, and with some growing differences in POV from the USA. The reason I grouped Europe together for the ballot is 1) the EU ties most of Europe together with a growing web of laws, 2) the population is roughly equivalent to North America. No point having a ballot only for the single nation in the EU where there would hardly be any input or votes. Better to ask about the whole of Europe, particularly as the way the EU bureacracy is going, they might one day try to enforce an EU-wide "Age of Consent" just like they try to impose many other intrusive laws regardless of the local national cultures feelings on the matter.
Why can a 15 year old decide they are in love with another 15 year old but not with a 30 year old? Sounds like someone forgot to put their brain in gear.

this is the best time if you are ready for bjs and handjobs
I say it should be 16, since at that age they start dating, and then exploring sexuality among their peers aged 16, 17 and 18. Under 16 would really not be appropriate.
