No because I don't think Britain would ever attack the U.S.Even if she did there is no way she could defeat us.We have 4 aircraft carriers the Brits have none. That alone gives us enough air advantage to bomb them into the stone age.The invasion and ground war would be messy though.
by Corrupt on Thu Jul 27, 06 6:56am [+]

we do have aircraft carriers.

"What Britain is capable of as a nation, capablities of Britains armed forces since they have a history of defeating larger and more powerful forces on the battlefield."

You seem to have forgotten the American Revolution.
by FiddleFaddleOnLSD on Thu Jul 27, 06 7:03am [+]

Should have made it "non-British" really.
by spartan001 on Thu Jul 27, 06 7:04am [+]

you also seem to forget that we were fighting 4 empires at once that were all considered the US of the time period.
by spartan001 on Thu Jul 27, 06 7:06am [+]

No Britain does not have aircraft carries you have something similar to aircraft carries but nothing close to the size of a real aircraft carrier.Anyway we still have a superior airforce to you and that alone gives us the advantage in the air.
by Corrupt on Thu Jul 27, 06 7:08am [+]

We built the first aircraft carrier.
We have the HMS Ark royal, Invincable, Illustrious and the Prince of Wales and Queen Elizabeth on the way.
by spartan001 on Thu Jul 27, 06 7:28am [+]

And what exactly is a "real aircraft carrier"?
by spartan001 on Thu Jul 27, 06 7:29am [+]

yawn... spartan001, it is amazing how many of you Brits seem to think your military is so great. It seems you guys are even more brainwashed than what you claim Americans are.
by FiddleFaddleOnLSD on Thu Jul 27, 06 9:46am [+]

Because I've got friends inside who'll smuggle me out when they start the Second War of 1812.
by Truthseeker013 on Thu Jul 27, 06 11:37am [+]

Corrupt, we have 12 aircraft carriers with several more currently being built. And the British Navy does indeed have aircraft carriers.
by TomSmith on Thu Jul 27, 06 12:09pm [+]

Britain has smaller, more agile aircraft carriers built for aircraft with short takeoff and landing capabilities. All aircraft on British carriers are sub-sonic but quite leathal. The reason American carriers are so large is the distances they must be able to travel and most of her planes are supersonic for the same reason. Both are the most leathal weapons at sea, they are merely used in a different type of engagement.

FiddleFaddleOnLSD you obviously have no knowledge of the British army then. It is well known that the top brass of the US military hold the British army in high esteem and consider 1 British soldier to be worth 10 US soldiers in a straight fire fight because of the training and professionalism of the British army and they see the SAS to be better than any special ops force at US disposal, the US top brass asked for the SAS to hunt for Osama Bin Laden because they considered the SAS the only special force in the world capable of getting the job done. Look at the difference in casualties between the two, what is it over 3000 US to 107 British?
by spartan001 on Thu Jul 27, 06 1:06pm [+]

I thought i read somewhere that the US navy are opting for smaller carriers like the ones used by us because of a change in warfare. Most probably wrong though.
by spartan001 on Thu Jul 27, 06 1:14pm [+]

"The United Kingdom fields one of the most powerful and comprehensive armed forces in the World. Its global power projection capabilities are second only to those of the United States Military. The UK has the 2nd to 4th highest military expenditure in the world, despite only having the 27th highest number of troops. It is also the second largest spender on military science, engineering and technology.

The Royal navy is also the second largest in terms of gross tonnage"

by spartan001 on Thu Jul 27, 06 1:39pm [+]

In years to come, the British and American navies will be using the same aircraft. Yhe FA-18 and the F-35 are Joint Strike Force aircraft that are capable of carrier (catapult or VTOL) service. American carriers will continue to be larger than Britains carriers because that will allow a greater variety of aircraft and larger in-flight refueling aircraft capability.

We are not cowards! I think any Briton would love to get stuck in when it comes to a good scrap, especially fighting for ones country.

by spartan001 on Tue Aug 01, 06 11:10am [+]

You know that Britain is currently building two supercarriers, right?

Anyway, lil_ape, that's utter rubbish and you know it.
by Lemming on Sat Aug 05, 06 10:19am [+]

corrupt where do you get your info? The US has 12 carriers with another being built with a whole new larger better and faster class being designed.
