COMMENTS:
I won't even believe that he said it until I hear the soundbite.
That's pretty damn shocking. Now what?
He may be obscenely wealthy and successful, but he's just another religious psycho.
He is a body double for SoDamn Insane. I think I remember he was criticized for something anti-semitic. No, it is his father who has been. I think his father is a self confessed anti-semite and Holocaust denier and has some other strange beliefs. But this ballot isn't about him. I don't think you can judge someone based on what they say when they are drunk and especially not unless I heard the actually utterance or soundbite.
Anti Semite is just a word the Jews use whenever someone criticizes their faith or criticizes Israel to discredit them. However blaming the Jews for everything is just plain stupid. They didn’t fly the planes into the wtc or the pentagon. They didn’t invade Iraq or cause 7/7.

Nope. I read that it actually is a lie and that he never said the things the officer said he did. The Officer is now being investigated for lying. He lied.
Did the policeman lie to get publicity? Or not? This is a joke ballot?? I have no idea what to think.
What is your source on this?
NO. But I think most of the Dems and especially the liberal dems are.
Ah right noblese anyone who doesn’t support Israel “defending” its self by murdering innocent children who didn’t do anything is an anti semite.

Stay on topic!
Fiddle my source was originally the Earth Times which it says in the ballot. However Drudge and The Herald Sun is also carrying the story. If you go to google news it will link you to the Herald Sun article. As for not being able to judge a person when they are drunk;well we all know that alcohol has the ability to losen people up and drop their guard.Couldn't be that deep down Gibson is an anti-semite?
The second choice doesn't make sense...when you're drunk you tend to say things that are unclouded by judgement and reasoning. If true, he said what he really felt about Jews. I guess he's finished in Hollywood then. I always thought he was wrapped a bit too tight.
OK, I'll look it up. Sometimes I have trouble reading and seeing detail. My bad.
OK. Here is a definition of the term (not my own): European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia (EUMC), a body of the European Union working definition: "Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities. In addition, such manifestations could also target the state of Israel, conceived as a Jewish collectivity. Antisemitism frequently charges Jews with conspiring to harm humanity, and it is often used to blame Jews for 'why things go wrong'." The EUMC then listed "contemporary examples of anti-Semitism in public life, the media, schools, the workplace, and in the religious sphere." These included: Making mendacious, dehumanizing, demonizing, or stereotypical allegations about Jews; accusing Jews as a people of being responsible for real or imagined wrongdoing committed by a single Jewish person or group; denying the Holocaust; and accusing Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel, or to the alleged priorities of Jews worldwide, than to the interests of their own nations. The EUMC also discussed ways in which attacking Israel could be anti-Semitic, depending on the context. By this definition he is most definitely an anti-semite. Like father, like son it seems.
From the NY Times: The sheriff’s report, carried on TMZ.com, a Web site owned by Time Warner, said Mr. Gibson had demanded to know if the officer, James Mee, was a Jew. During an obscenity-laced tirade, according to the report, Mr. Gibson also said “the Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world.” Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, declined to comment on the report. But he said the department would eventually disclose details of the arrest. “Nothing will be sanitized,” Mr. Whitmore said in a statement. People associated with the case privately acknowledged the report’s authenticity, but they agreed to speak only on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation.
Gibson released a statement this weekend confirming that he did make those anti-semitic statements. Here is apart of that statement. "I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested, and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable."Read the full article on the Timesonline you can find a link through google news.
He was drunk, people say the wackiest things when drunk, and angry drunks say things that they know will annoy other people just to get their nerve up. They also play up to the audience. Now, did they get it on tape, or is there the possibility that this is all just media hype and Gibson himself probably hasn't a clue what he really said either.
YEah... It's all supposed to be recorded on the patrol car audio tape. There are supossedly some pages from the officers report posted on TMZ which document it as well. But there is more to this story which adds another dimension to the whole anti-semitism debate, and that's the fact that they (the Malibu Police Dept.) didn't want to release all of the details because of: 1. Hollywood justice and 2. The situation in Israel. It seems they felt that there might be a bit of a problem with a popular American movie star/director saying things like "fucking Jews" etc. while the whole Lebanon thing is making things really messy for the Israelis. Remeber America supports Israel and this is well.. just so 1939..
It is certainly possible. I think that it was always a possiblility especially considering his father's rather extreme views. However, the son is NOT the father. I think that some people will try to use this to say that the movie was anti-semitic, which I don't think it was. I don't think the movie was the best foot forward for Christ's life depicted on the big screen. Of course Jesus was a Jew and I never understand how Christians can be anti-Jew. I mean Christ was NOT a Christian. Neither were the majority of the disciples.
If it was a lie, why did he apologise for it. An apology seems to confirm that he did say it, doesn't it. That is anti-semitic, and I'm not sure the apology was even genuine. The kind of irrational and xenophobic hatred he displayed is not acceptable to me. There should be freedom of speech, yes. However, I have the freedom to denounce his nonsense.
He's a total sell-out for giving that half-asses apology.
Isn't America a land of free speech? Mel Gibson has a right to his opinion. So do you.
