WHY DON'T TEACHERS EVER DO ANYTHING WHEN KIDS ARE BEING BULLIED?

[+] serious ballot by nuckinfutz

Where I went to school teachers almost always waited until bullying got physical before they did anything.

They don't know what to do
They're afraid to intervene.
They don't care.
They're there to teach, not to deal with behavior issues.
They want to teach kids to stick up for themselves.
They usually DID do something where I went to school.
Well, from a teacher's perspective . . .
They are unwise.

They do that sometimes. I think they think that if they get involved too soon, it might make the situation worse. I'm not sure.

Not all of these people are overly bright. And most violent kids lie.

They know it won't stop once they leave the school grounds. Kids need to learn to fend for themselves. It's a cruel world.

I doubt that they knew it was happening. At least that is the position that I would start from. Teachers responsiblity platter has been piled higer and higher in the past couple of decades. Since that is the case it is only a matter of time before essential duties {like teaching} are lost in the crowd.

Voted : They're afraid to intervene.
Then, as now, they're afraid that getting mixed up in the fight will result in their being injured.
