but what proportion would you have in mind? Are caucasians and others less arrogant? Is this ballot trying to say something about anyone who comes from that region?
Steelhamster- "but what proportion would you have in mind?" - I said in the ballot question 'significant portion'. Such a term is completely subjective. Each voter should determine individually what they believe 'significant' to be. "Are caucasians and others less arrogant?" - Irrelevant. However, from my personal experiences, Arabs in particular were somewhat more arrogant. "Is this ballot trying to say something about anyone who comes from that region?" - No. Where did the ballot say anything about 'all' Arabs? And questions don't 'say' anything. They are merely questions. It is answers that speak for themselves, not questions. One could easily have voted 'no'. Afterall, this issue is a mere matter of opinion.
If you suggested the same in a ballot, but substituted "Jews" for "Arabs," you would be considered anti-Semitic. If you suggested the same in a ballot, but substituted "rich Republicans" for "Arabs," you would be accused of engaging in class warfare. What are you guilty of, in this ballot, Socrates?

Arabs aren't any different than any other group in this regard. I don't know what this ballot is referring to.
Voted : No
No. There was a great line in the book "The Killer Angels" and the subsequent movie from that book "Gettysburgh," which went like this... "Any person that judges by the group is a pee-wit."
Ballot: ARE ARABS ARROGANT? serious ballot by Socrates Sounding more like Herzog everyday arn't we.

^Except herzie would use more subtlety.
You'll notice that of the four Socrates ballots in a row, herzie posted on three of them, but avoided this one.

Yes, very.

From personal experience, it only seems to be the men.
I don't know. I think that leaders are generally arrogant and I don't think that applies solely to Arab leaders.
FiddleFaddleOnLSD- What should it be based on? Personal experience. According to you this group has no more or less arrogant sectors to it than any other group from your experiences. There are no wrong answers really, just asking for perspective and experience.
Noblese_Oblige- so just the leaders?
cranky- "If you suggested the same in a ballot, but substituted "Jews" for "Arabs," you would be considered anti-Semitic." - Such a comparison is a bit different. 'Jew' refers to a religion. 'Arab' does not. Unless you think all Arabs are Muslim and all Muslims are Arab? I hope not. Besides which, I do think that every single religion, including Judaism, has FACTIONS which are particularly arrogant. "If you suggested the same in a ballot, but substituted "rich Republicans" for "Arabs," you would be accused of engaging in class warfare." - I am not American and am not aware if this is true or not. "What are you guilty of, in this ballot, Socrates?" - That's easy- being provocative. I wanted to see if this sort of ballot would recieve more or less opposition than the ballot asking if Americans are arrogant. So in other words, it was a juxtapositional sociological test to see the differences in reaction to a similar question. My assertion that there are a 'significant' number of Americans that are arrogant received no opposition. Similar assertions I made about Britons received some opposition. This one about Arabs received relatively a lot. Sociologically speaking, from an intellectualist point of view, the variations in responses to each is quite sociologically intriguing, isn't it? Arabs, it seems, receive more resistance from being criticised? And as to my personal opinion, from my experiences, Arabs (just males, specifically in their teens to their thirties) have been particularly rude and abrasive and condescending toward me. I know it isn't right to pick on and label groups, and I don't. Rather, from my experiences it is the other way around. If someone was rude or spoke aggressively to me for no reason, and they just happen to be Arab, and then I say to someone 'that person was arrogant to me', I am astounded that the reaction a lot of the time is 'You can't say that.' I ask why, and the response is 'because he is Arab.' I get that sort of thing from time to time, it is really surprising. This factors into why I made this ballot. I never assert that being Arab is the cause of arrogance, but just that there happens to be some that are arrogant. Then there is a reaction that one is not 'supposed' to point it out. Very strange. Besides which, one is assuming that 'arrogance' is always a bad thing. I think the French have a lot of arrogant parts in their society- and I think that can be a good thing sometimes. Anyway, I never asserted that 'all' Arabs are arrogant, or that being Arab causes arrogance. I was merely asking if there happened to be a "significant portion of Arabs" that happened to be arrogant. Some of my closest friends are Arab- we have bonded deeply. "You'll notice that of the four Socrates ballots in a row, herzie posted on three of them, but avoided this one." - And? Me and herzog disagree on various issues. You are assuming that he saw this ballot, disagreed with what I had to say, but left no comment because he didn't want to oppose me. I doubt that, honestly. He disagrees with often and shows it. Besides which, this ballot is relatively bland compared to the other three.
I dont understand why they r arrogran all their countrys suck
