Like Michael, Mel belongs to a wacky religious sect. Both Michael and Mel have mean-spirited, abusive fathers. Both have made public, anti-Semitic remarks. Both have done weird things to their faces (note Mel's new "Saddam Hussein" beard). Both have audiences of millions of ardent supporters who buy their crappy "works of art." And both engage in public displays of erratic behavior.

Now that Michael has, at least temporarily, gone underground, will Mel Gibson take his place as celebrity nutjob number one?

I was simply wondering if Mel will disintegrate to the level that he becomes a walking joke, like Michael Jackson.

And Mel isn't a mainstream Catholic. He belongs to some marginalized sect, that isn't even fully recognized by the Church. He's essentially a heretic.
