Oh this is fun... futurism is my thing. I'll just lay out some possible political events.
Several western Canadian provinces merge with the United States, but Texas, Alaska and Hawaii secede. The District of Columbia finally becomes a State, but Puerto Rico and Guam become independent. The US and British Virgin Islands become an indepenent nation, the Republic of the Virgin Islands.
The Russian Federation would have broken apart. Chechnya, Daghestan, Karelia and several other republics become independent. Iraq would've long been split into two nations, Kurdistan (the northern third) and Iraq (the rest). A Kurd uprising causes a part of eastern Turkey to be ceded to Kurdistan, and Armenia regains lost territory in that region as well, including Mount Ararat. Northwestern Iran may follow suit, increasing the size of both Kurdistan and Azerbaijan.
The European Union includes almost every European nation, but Britain maintains a great deal of autonomy, a compromise solution that keeps the UK from seceding. Scotland becomes independent and Wales gains a great deal of self-government.
In Africa: the two Congos become one Republic of Congo with Kinshasa-Brazzavile as a unified capital. Zambia and Zimbabwe (the former Rhodesia) unite likewise. A state of Tamazgha (the Berbers) emerges in northwest Africa, possibly including the ancient city of Timbuktu (in what is today Mali).
Another United Arab Republic will appear, centered in Egypt and including other Arab republics (not monarchies) and Palestine, which also gains statehood.
The most exciting place on earth will surely be China. Tibet and Uighurstan will fight for and gain independence, and the communist government will either collapse or embrace a market economy and democratic reforms, led by a leader a lot like Gorbachev.

Unless the Social Security Administration undergoes a major overhaul, it will be paying out more than it takes in which will eventually result in its insolvency. Said major overhaul will include eventual 100% privatization of the Social Security Administration which will be re-named Social Security, Inc. Administration
